Actor Eyad Nassar emphasized the exceptional place Egyptian drama and cinema hold in the hearts of Arab audiences, stressing that appearing on screen in the “Hollywood of the East” has always been the ultimate ambition for any artist seeking to build a lasting name and artistic legacy.
During his appearance on the program “Fayeq wa Rayeq” with journalist Ibrahim Fayeq, Nassar revealed the immense prestige the Egyptian film industry commands among Arab actors, stating frankly, “For any Arab actor, Egypt is a dream. In the past, to elevate their status, an actor would lie and claim they were contacted from Egypt about an Egyptian project.” He pointed out that simply being associated with Egypt was enough to grant an artist a distinguished position among their peers.
Nassar explained that Egypt’s leading role is not a coincidence, but rather the result of decades of artistic accumulation and the presence of leading creative minds, including writers, directors, and major production companies. He also praised the awareness of the Egyptian audience, emphasizing that “the Egyptian public possesses a distinctive taste” and a unique ability to discern genuine talent, which makes success in Egypt an international recognition of an artist’s talent.
In his analysis of the current scene, the Jordanian star commended the qualitative leaps recently achieved by Egyptian drama, particularly in terms of image quality and the selection of bold and diverse themes. He believes that the increasing competition within the Egyptian market benefits artistic productions, as it compels everyone to deliver their best, thus raising the quality of the final product presented to the Arab audience.
