Actor Ahmed Helmy has finished filming his new movie, “Ad’af Khalqo” (His Weakest Creation), in preparation for its theatrical release this summer.
Helmy posted a video on his Instagram page celebrating the completion of filming, commenting, “That’s a wrap on ‘Ad’af Khalqo,’ and I hope the audience likes it.”
This marks Helmy’s first collaboration with actress Hend Sabry in this film, which blends dark comedy with elements of suspense and drama, offering a new experience that combines laughter with depth.
The film is set in 2007 at the Giza Zoo, where Helmy portrays an honest and dedicated zoologist who strives to uphold his principles amidst the decline of the institution he works for due to dwindling resources and waning interest. While he struggles to save the animals he has dedicated himself to protecting, he finds himself besieged by family crises and mounting financial pressures, most notably an unexpected pregnancy that exacerbates his daily struggles. As his personal fate becomes intertwined with that of the animals he sees as a reflection of his family, he faces a difficult moral dilemma when offered the chance to sell some of them to a wealthy visitor. This sets off a fierce internal conflict between his adherence to principles and the pressure of material needs.
Ahmed Helmy returns to cinema with “Ad’af Khalqo” after a three-year hiatus. His last film, “Wahed Tani,” was released during the Eid al-Fitr season of 2022 and achieved great popular success, leaving Helmy’s fans eagerly anticipating his new project this summer.
“Ad’af Khalqo” stars Ahmed Helmy, Hend Sabry, Hanan Youssef, Karim Kassem, and Mohamed Radwan, and is written and directed by Omar Helal.
