Maged El Kedwany expressed his delight at the positive reception of the series “Kan Ya Ma Kan” (Once Upon a Time), which aired during the first half of Ramadan 2026.
During a phone interview on the program “Wahed Men El Nas” (One of the People) with journalist Amr El Leithy, El Kedwany added that the series focused on highlighting several problems that arise after divorce. He emphasized that there is no absolute villain and victim in a divorce; rather, both parties suffer and sometimes feel wronged, reflecting the complexity of human relationships.
He pointed out that one of the most important messages the series conveyed was that the interference of third parties in a marriage directly exacerbates and intensifies crises.
El Kedwany stressed the importance of considering the best interests of the children, as they are the product of this marriage. He noted that maintaining a degree of respect between spouses, both during the marriage and after separation, directly impacts the psychological well-being of the children.
Regarding his role, Majed El-Kedwany explained that the character of “Mustafa” that he presented in the series came in a realistic and simple framework, and is close to models that exist within many Egyptian homes, noting that what attracted him to the work was its closeness to people, in addition to his cooperation with director Karim El-Adl and writer Sherine Diab, who presented human relationships in an honest way.
