Actor Mohamed Anwar confirmed that he conducted extensive research on fashion trends in the 1980s before filming the series “Mana’a” . This was to familiarize himself with the clothing and looks prevalent during that era, responding to criticism of his appearance in the show, which some considered inappropriate for the time period.
During his appearance on the program “Hibr Sirri” (Secret Ink), hosted by Asmaa Ibrahim, Anwar explained that fashion trends naturally resurface across generations, stating, “What young people are wearing now was common in the 1980s.”
He added that the beard he sported in the series was not unusual for that era, nor were the voluminous hairstyles popularized by several football stars of the time, such as Mahmoud El Khatib, Hassan Shehata, and Magdi Abdel Ghani.
Anwar cited the late actor Ahmed Zaki’s hairstyle in the film “Kaborya” (Crab), explaining that it was common at the time but later became associated with the film’s title after its huge success upon release in 1989.
