Saba Mubarak expelled from the Jordanian Artists Syndicate… Here are the details

The Jordanian Artists Syndicate’s decision to revoke the membership of 21 artists has sparked controversy, particularly after the list included actress Saba Mubarak. This has prompted many to question the reasons behind the decision, generating widespread discussion on social media and search engines.

The Jordanian Artists Syndicate clarified that the revocation was not related to any artistic or professional violations, but rather was an application of internal regulations. These regulations stipulate the termination of membership for those who fail to pay their dues and syndicate fees, after issuing official warnings and granting them a grace period to rectify their situations before the decision is made.

For his part, the head of the Jordanian Artists Syndicate, Hani Al-Jarrah, revealed that some of the artists included in the decision had not paid their dues for years. He explained that the outstanding amounts for some members ranged between two thousand and seven thousand Jordanian dinars, while in some cases, the arrears had exceeded eight years.

Al-Jarrah emphasized that the syndicate’s board applies the regulations to all members without exception, regardless of their names or artistic standing.

The decision to expel Saba Mubarak was not limited to her; it also included artists Jamil Brahmeh and Wissam Al-Barihi, who announced their rejection of the decision and affirmed their intention to appeal it in court.

Saba Mubarak has not yet issued any official comment on the decision, despite her name trending on search engines and social media platforms. Public opinion is divided between those who support applying the regulations to all members without exception, and others who believe the crisis could have been contained through solutions that guarantee the union’s rights while taking into account the artists’ circumstances and the challenges facing the arts sector.
