The Egyptian national team secured a historic passage to the Round of 16 of the 2026 World Cup after a breathtaking football match against Australia in the Round of 32.

The Pharaohs clinched the victory in a penalty shootout after the match ended 1-1 in both regulation and extra time. The game showcased the resilience of Mohamed Salah and his teammates, who persevered until the very end, allowing the Egyptian team to continue their World Cup journey amidst widespread jubilation among Arab fans.

Amidst this footballing excitement, the renowned American content creator and YouTuber Tommy Winkler added his own unique touch to the match.

Winkler, known globally as “The Food Guy” or “King of Crunch,” is one of the most prominent food content creators on social media platforms. He is famous for his engaging videos showcasing food experiences, crazy eating challenges, and innovative food hacks, offering his audience spontaneous and captivating reactions as soon as he takes the first bite of each meal.

In his latest episode, which coincided with the excitement of the World Cup, Winkler launched a unique challenge called “Egyptian Food vs. Australian Food,” beginning the competition with a tasting of the two countries’ famous dishes.

Tommy began his tour of Egyptian cuisine with hawawshi, which he thoroughly enjoyed. He described the bread as “golden and crispy” and the meat inside as perfectly seasoned, giving it a high rating of 9 out of 10. The Australian response came with the traditional “meat pie,” which he described as a comfort food that was both delicious and salty, awarding it an 8.6 out of 10.

The competition intensified in the second round, with Winkler expressing his amazement at Egyptian shawarma, enthusiastically exclaiming, “It’s bursting with delicious flavors and has everything! I want to devour it all!” He gave it a 9.5 out of 10.

The Australian cuisine suffered a major setback in this round when he tasted the famous “Vegmite” spread. Tommy was taken aback by its taste, asking in disbelief, “What is this thing? How and why?” He gave it a disastrous rating of 1 out of 10.

In the final round of the challenge, Winkler sampled Egyptian falafel. He described it as slightly dry inside but incredibly crunchy and bursting with intense flavor, awarding it a 7.5 out of 10. Meanwhile, Australian Tim Tams chocolate salvaged its country’s reputation in the end, praising its melt-in-the-mouth, crispy chocolate texture and earning it an 8.7 out of 10.

The Egyptian dominance wasn’t limited to the Dallas football field; it extended to a taste battle where Egyptian cuisine triumphed with a total score of 26 points to Australia’s 18.3, declaring a resounding victory for the “King of Crunch” in both flavor and taste.
