The artist Ahmed Galal Abdel Qawi passed away this morning, Sunday, after a battle with cancer, at the age of 42, amidst grief among his family and loved ones.
The artist Azzouz Adel, a member of the Actors’ Syndicate, announced the death on his Facebook page, praying for God’s mercy and forgiveness for him.
His brother, Mohamed Abdel Qawi, also announced the death on his Facebook page, mourning him with touching words: “To God we belong and to Him we shall return. My beloved brother, the actor and director Ahmed Galal Abdel Qawi, has passed away.”
He added: “May God have mercy on you, my dear brother, and gather you with the prophets, the righteous, the pious, and the devout. O God, grant us patience and solace. Amen, Lord of the Worlds. Farewell, my younger brother, my love… You have gone before us, and we will follow.”
Mohamed Abdel Qawi explained that the family decided to limit the funeral prayer and burial to the deceased, accepting condolences only via messages, in accordance with their wish for a simple farewell ceremony.
The late artist had garnered sympathy from his fans recently after announcing his cancer diagnosis and asking them to pray for him, before his passing today, leaving behind a wave of grief among his colleagues and admirers.
Only a few hours had passed since Ahmed Galal Abdel Qawi’s last post on his Facebook account, where he wrote the brief phrase, “It’s a matter of time.” His words quickly became a poignant message shared widely on social media following the announcement of his death.
