Nintendo has released a major new update for its popular racing game, Mario Kart World, which has already begun rolling out to users of the next-generation Nintendo Switch 2 console.
This update introduces a wide range of new features and additions, most notably the addition of the Drill Rally and Boomerang Rally tracks to the Knockout Tour mode. A new jump platform has also been added to the race, which runs from the Hover Fortress to Bowser Castle. Nintendo has officially confirmed plans to add six more tracks to the Knockout Tour in the near future to enhance competitiveness.
The update isn’t limited to new tracks; it also includes interactive features within the game. Players can now use stickers that have been unlocked and applied via touch controls or the mouse during the pause menu in the shooting mode.
To improve balance, Nintendo has increased the acceleration efficiency of slower characters and vehicles, and boosted the flight speed of faster characters. The time for a quick launch after landing on opponents has been extended, and players can now instantly jump after being hit by Kamik’s magic or Bell’s bullet. The update also allows players to see the super horn carried by opponents and adds full support for the Thai language.
Regarding technical fixes, the update focuses heavily on addressing issues players encountered on the tracks. A timing error in Time Trial mode, which could result in affected replays being removed from the rankings without prior notice, has been resolved.
Issues causing a slowdown in flight speed after collisions and crashes when players hit projectile enemies have also been fixed. Additionally, bugs preventing players from boarding helicopters in online mode, issues with the backward range of certain bikes throwing grenades, and problems with the spiky shell breaking when it collided with gold blocks or broadcast vehicles have been addressed.
Nintendo concluded its patch package by addressing environmental and navigation bugs in several popular environments, preventing players from breaking through walls in Bowser Castle, getting trapped in electronic scoreboards, or falling while using a feather in the depths of flowers. This also included preventing random falls from tracks when jumping over parachutes in Salty Speedway, using shortcuts in Cliff Beach, or falling off the rails in Falls. The issue of players losing two coins at once in Peach Stadium, getting trapped in Tea Jay Market, and Dry Bones falling across the ground was also fixed, as well as a bug that randomly sent players an excessively long distance backward upon falling.
