Steam Deck Sold Out Across Multiple Regions: What You Need to Know

The demand for the Steam Deck continues to surge, but potential buyers are finding it increasingly difficult to make a purchase. Recent reports have revealed that Valve’s handheld gaming device has sold out in more regions than anticipated. While it’s still available in certain territories, consumers should act swiftly to avoid missing out.

Overview of Steam Deck Availability

Launched in 2022, the Steam Deck has redefined portable gaming by allowing players to access their favorite Steam titles on the go. Initially released in multiple configurations, including an LCD model, Valve has since discontinued the LCD version as of December 2025. Presently, only the OLED models remain, which have become significantly harder to acquire since early 2026.

As of now, Steam Deck OLED units have vanished from shelves in the United States, and sales reports confirm that the situation has escalated to Europe, Canada, and Japan. Specific nations within the European Union, like Poland, are also experiencing shortages.

Current Stock Situation

A recent report by GamingOnLinux indicates that the Steam Deck OLED is completely sold out across various regions, with the distributor Komodo reporting availability in the UK, South Korea, Hong Kong, and Taiwan. However, Japanese stock is expected to see a limited restock by late February.

For those in the US, it remains possible to wishlist the Steam Deck to receive notifications when it becomes available again.

The Effects of RAM Shortages on Inventory

The scarcity of the Steam Deck and other tech gadgets is primarily attributed to an ongoing RAM shortage, driven by excessive demand from companies building AI-based infrastructures. The prices of essential components like RAM and solid-state drives (SSDs) have skyrocketed, making it difficult for manufacturers like Valve to maintain inventory or produce new devices.

Recent statistics from GameRant indicate that the price of DDR5 RAM has surged over four times its original retail price. Additionally, high-end graphics cards like the Nvidia GeForce RTX 5070 Ti have seen prices soar above $1,000.

While prices for RAM have begun trending downward, buyers can still expect to pay around $370 for 2×16 GB memory kits on platforms such as Amazon.

Implications for Future Steam Devices

The ongoing RAM shortage not only affects the Steam Deck, but it also complicates the development of Valve’s upcoming Steam Machine and other products such as the Steam Frame and Steam Controller. Rising material costs have delayed the announcement of pricing and availability for these devices. Many fans are urging Valve to prioritize the release of the Steam Controller, which isn’t subject to the same component shortages.

Final Thoughts

The current state of the Steam Deck illustrates just how interconnected technology supply chains can be. While the RAM and SSD shortages might prolong the lifespan of current gaming consoles, those eager to snag a Steam Deck will find it increasingly challenging in select markets. With no immediate resolution in sight, how Valve chooses to adapt to increased demand will remain a focal point for gaming enthusiasts.

For continual updates on availability, check reputable sources or register for alerts on purchasing options. The gaming community remains eager for new developments in the world of handheld gaming.
