John Summit Considers Departure from Wasserman Amid Epstein Files Controversy

John Summit Threatens to Leave Wasserman Over Controversial Allegations

In a striking development within the music industry, renowned DJ John Summit has expressed intentions to part ways with Wasserman, citing owner Casey Wasserman’s past correspondence with controversial figure Ghislaine Maxwell. In a tweet posted Thursday, Summit made it clear that he would not continue with the agency if Wasserman remains in charge.

Integrity Concerns Spark Outrage

Summit voiced his frustrations directly on X (formerly Twitter), stating, “His actions do not reflect the integrity of the agents I work with, and if change does not happen, we will take our talents elsewhere.” This statement has been seen as a rallying cry amidst growing discontent among Wasserman clients.

“If Casey Wasserman doesn’t step down, I will not remain with the agency,” he tweeted.

The Influence of John Summit

As one of the most sought-after DJs in the U.S., Summit plays a pivotal role in Wasserman’s Electronic Dance Music (EDM) division. Last year, he initiated an EDM festival in New York to fill the gap left by the absence of annual EDM events in America’s largest market.

In a follow-up message, Summit indicated he has no intention of abandoning his supportive agents, hinting that there may be strategic discussions underway for a potential exit that would benefit all parties involved.

Pressure within the Agency

Multiple sources have revealed that Wasserman agents are actively encouraging their clients to voice their concerns publicly, aiming to amplify pressure for a managerial change. As it stands, Wasserman faces scrutiny from minority owner Providence regarding this issue, although their advice to Casey Wasserman remains undisclosed.

A Wave of Departures

In the wake of these developments, nearly two dozen acts have either departed or threatened to leave Wasserman unless leadership changes. Notable names include Louis the Child, Wednesday, Gigi Perez, and standout artist Chappell Roan. Roan articulated the sentiment of many, declaring, “No artist, agent, or employee should ever be expected to defend or overlook actions that conflict so deeply with our own moral values. I refuse to passively stand by.”

Silence Among Other Artists

While those who have spoken out represent a fraction of the hundreds of acts associated with Wasserman, there are unconfirmed reports of other artists having left without making public statements. One insider suggests that another high-profile act from the agency is likely to announce their departure soon, though specifics remain under wraps.

Conclusion

The ongoing turmoil at Wasserman highlights significant ethical concerns within the music agency. As more artists evaluate their affiliations, the pressure on Casey Wasserman to reconsider his position might intensify. The future of Wasserman’s reputation and client retention hangs in the balance as these developments continue to unfold.
