The head of the Musicians Syndicate in Lebanon, Farid Abu Said, denied the circulating reports about the legendary singer Fairouz’s retirement from singing or her permanent withdrawal from the artistic scene, confirming that the “Lebanese cedar” is well and residing at home as usual.
Abu Said emphasized that all statements recently attributed to him regarding Fairouz’s retirement are “false news” and completely unfounded. He clarified that he has not given any interview to that effect and appealed to media outlets and social media users to be accurate and avoid “propaganda” that targets icons of Arab art.
The head of the syndicate attributed Fairouz’s recent absence from the public eye to difficult personal circumstances she is experiencing, especially after the tragic passing of her son, Hali Rahbani, last January. He noted that Fairouz had chosen relative seclusion and quiet time with her daughter, Rima Rahbani, to overcome the series of family losses she had suffered in recent years, emphasizing that this absence was a legitimate “period of human rest” and not the end of a long and illustrious artistic career.
Farid Abu Said reassured the public about Fairouz’s health, confirming that it was completely stable and there were no signs of concern. He pointed out that the Syndicate was closely monitoring her situation with great appreciation for her international stature, stressing that Fairouz would always be present through her voice and legacy, and that her current seclusion was a personal choice for tranquility away from the limelight.
