Actress Reem Sami was a guest on the radio program “Secrets of the Stars” with host Inji Ali on Nogoum FM, where she revealed behind-the-scenes stories and challenges from her artistic career. She emphasized that her sole criterion for choosing roles is “quality” and avoiding repetition.
Reem confirmed that her desire for challenges began with her debut in the series “Love is a Last Chance,” where she refused to play a character similar to herself and requested the role of a struggling, impoverished girl. She considered the real turning point to be the series “Al-Prince” with star Mohamed Ramadan, explaining that the success of the show placed her under the responsibility of choosing complex and unconventional roles.
Reem Sami described the character of “Hemmat” in her latest series as the “most difficult” of her career, noting that she spent a full month studying its psychological dimensions. She said:
“The murder scene was the most difficult test because it relied more on internal emotions and nervous tension than on words.”
She also thanked actor Ahmed El-Awady, emphasizing that he was the first to believe in her abilities and strongly encouraged her before filming the challenging scenes. She also praised actor Mohamed Tharwat’s talent and his exceptional ability to deliver dramatic performances, moving beyond comedy.
Reem spoke about the impact of marriage on her personality, describing her husband, Mohamed, as her primary advisor and supporter. She explained that motherhood changed her perspective on life, especially after experiencing a difficult health crisis with her son, which made her realize that family is her top priority.
Reem denied that her brother, director Mohamed Sami, paved the way for her artistic career, asserting that she initially relied on herself. However, she benefits from his constant advice: “Don’t take on a role you’re not convinced of.”
