He admitted that his increased use of these tools had reached a point where he described it as “unhealthy,” prompting him to issue a public apology to his followers.
The controversy arose after viewers of his educational channel noticed a phrase that seemed out of place in one of his videos, leading to speculation that the episode’s script was written with the help of ChatGBT, or that some of the AI’s responses had been mistakenly included in the script, according to TechCrunch.
Green explained in a post on the X platform, which he later deleted, that he used ChatGBT during the episode’s production to conduct research and access references and information. He emphasized that all opinions and words in the video were his own, and that the controversial phrase was directed at the episode’s guest and was not taken from the AI’s responses.
In an apology posted on Reddit, he acknowledged that he had disappointed some of his followers, admitting that criticism regarding his diminished personal presence in the content was valid. He announced his intention to reduce his posting frequency in the coming period to reassess his approach.
Green emphasized that he is not opposed to artificial intelligence in principle, but expressed concern about its environmental impact and its potential to accelerate climate change, as well as his worries about the concentration of economic power in the hands of a limited number of technology companies.
He concluded his message by stating that his biggest fear is losing the trust of his audience. He indicated that his constant pursuit of producing more content, coupled with his habit of interacting with AI models, had become unhealthy. Therefore, he will focus on producing content that relies more on his own writing and direct communication with his followers in the future.
