The Michael Jackson biopic “Michael” has achieved remarkable success since its official release last week, topping the box office and garnering widespread acclaim from both audiences and critics.
In Egypt, “Michael” grossed 554,449 Egyptian pounds, with a total of 3,979 tickets sold, according to box office figures from Egyptian cinemas, as reported by a film distribution company.
The film’s US box office earnings exceeded $97 million, according to The Hollywood Reporter, during its opening weekend, surpassing “Oppenheimer” and becoming the highest-grossing biopic in North American box office history.
Globally, the film grossed approximately $120.4 million in over 80 countries and territories, bringing its total earnings to around $217.4 million by the end of last week. It also entered the list of highest-grossing films of 2026, ranking sixth worldwide within just a few days of its release.
The film chronicles the life of Michael Jackson, from his early artistic beginnings as a child, through his journey to global stardom and his transformation into the “King of Pop,” to the final weeks of his life in 2009.
The film stars a number of prominent actors, most notably Jaffar Jackson, Michael Jackson’s nephew and the lead, alongside Miles Teller, Laura Harrier, and Colman Domingo. It was directed by Antoine Fuqua.
