Since its launch in November 2020, the PlayStation 5 has impressed the world with its technical specifications, from its ultra-fast SSD to its revolutionary DualSense controller. As we approach the end of this generation’s lifecycle, the console still holds secrets and technologies that offer users a more personalized and professional gaming experience.
Remapping Buttons: Complete Control Beyond Limits
In some games, the developers’ default settings might not suit you. If you prefer jumping with the back trigger (R2) instead of the (X) button, the PlayStation 5 allows you to completely remap the buttons from within the console’s settings.
By going to Settings > Accessibility > Controllers, you can enable the option to customize the buttons to suit your playstyle. Be aware, however, that this change is system-wide, so the game will continue to display the old on-screen instructions, and you’ll need to remember your new button selection.
Remote Play: Your Console with You Everywhere
Want to continue your adventure while on the bus or during your lunch break? The “Remote Play” feature lets you connect your device to your computer (PC or Mac) or even your smartphone via the internet.
Once you enable the feature in your system settings and have an internet speed of at least 5 Mbps, you can access your game library from anywhere. It’s recommended to use this feature for slower, turn-based games to avoid the lag issues that can occur in fast-paced, competitive games.
Aiming Accuracy via Motion Sensors
Many gamers find it difficult to achieve accuracy with an analog stick compared to a mouse. This is where the motion sensors in the DualSense controller, also known as “Gyro Aiming,” come in.
This feature allows you to aim your weapon or camera by physically tilting the controller, providing near-computer-level accuracy. Popular games like The Last of Us Part II support this technology, making sniper aiming much easier when enabled in the game’s settings.
Audio Focus: Hear Your Enemies’ Footsteps Clearly
The device includes a hidden feature called “Audio Focus,” a treasure for competitive shooters. When wearing headphones, this feature allows you to amplify specific in-game sounds.
Through the audio settings, you can choose different modes, such as “Boost High Pitch” to increase the sound of footsteps and metal collisions, or “Boost Voices” to enhance character dialogue amidst the din of battle. This feature gives you a strategic advantage, allowing you to pinpoint your opponent’s location before they see you.
