Social media erupted in joy and pride after the Egyptian national team achieved a historic feat by defeating Australia and securing their first-ever qualification for the Round of 16 in the 2026 World Cup.
The celebrations weren’t limited to fans; a large number of celebrities shared their joy on their social media accounts, sending congratulatory messages and support to the players, praising their heroic performance that brought smiles back to the faces of Egyptians and ignited celebrations both within Egypt and abroad.
For example, Youssra wrote on her X page: “Congratulations to Egypt, and congratulations to the men of Egypt! A truly honorable team and a fantastic match. You made us proud, and may God grant us success in the next match. A million congratulations to Egypt!”
Tamer Hosny reacted to the match by posting a video of the penalty shootout and singing “Qadha” after Egypt’s victory. He captioned the video: “A billion congratulations, Egypt! 🇪🇬 Thank you to the heroes of our great national team and our great coach. May the future bring even greater joy and happiness.”
The artist Sherihan also shared in the celebrations, writing on the “X” platform: “Thank you to our national football team. You have made all of Egypt happy by qualifying for the Round of 16 of the World Cup for the first time. Mayan El Sayed posted a video on her official Instagram account, showing her celebrating amidst a joyous atmosphere. She leaned out of a car window and began dancing to the song “Here is Egypt,” expressing her happiness at the Egyptian national team’s victory.
Ramez Galal posted a humorous slogan, saying, “Neither Messi nor Argentina… We are the descendants of the Pharaohs.”
Jordanian actor Eyad Nassar celebrated Egypt’s victory over Australia by posting a picture of the national team and commenting, “Congratulations, Egypt… Congratulations and may you always be happy.”
Emirati artist Hussein Al Jasmi also celebrated Egypt’s victory over Australia on his Instagram page, using his song “Congratulations to Egypt,” and commenting, “Congratulations to Egypt on every victory.”
Lebanese artist Wael Jassar also celebrated Egypt’s victory, posting a picture of the national team and commenting: “You are the stars!
