In Egypt, this phenomenon has transformed into a vast field attracting millions of views, with many content creators becoming true influencers on the public’s choices of restaurants and food.
The spread of this type of content is attributed to several factors, most notably the widespread popularity of YouTube and short-video platforms like TikTok and Facebook Reels, in addition to the Egyptian public’s interest in food and trying different restaurants. Food review videos also help followers make easier decisions about where to visit to eat. Below, we highlight some of the most prominent food vloggers:
Amr Elhady
He is a famous Egyptian food content creator and, by profession, a dentist. Known for his innovative approach to reviewing restaurants and food products on social media, he won the Best Food Content Creator in the Middle East award in 2022.
Monaesh
This is the nickname of Egyptian content creator Ahmed Abdel Moneim. He stands out for his unique style, often trying dishes at home after ordering from restaurants to avoid the special treatment he might receive in the restaurant. He also provides comparisons between different fast-food restaurants.
Mohamed Hazem
He is a prominent Egyptian food content creator and a well-known figure in the world of restaurant and cooking reviews on social media platforms.
He won the TikTok Hero Award 2020 as the Best Food Content Creator in the Middle East and is known for his love of food “inventions” and exploring unconventional combinations. One of his most popular segments is “Thursday’s Bechamel,” where he shares his experiences with various bechamel dishes.
Mazagangi
Mostafa Mahmoud, known as “Mazagangi,” is considered the godfather of this field in its current form. With his famous catchphrase “Ya Salat El Zein,” he has built a fan base estimated in the millions. This is the YouTube channel of Mohamed Essam from Alexandria, who reviews food and restaurants in the city. Raad
Also known as “The First Hunter,” Raad is a popular Egyptian food blogger known for his spontaneous style of reviewing restaurants and trying new food.
Raad is also known for supporting small businesses and lesser-known establishments. He visits these places, pays for the meals himself, and then reviews them honestly. He won the Best Food Blogger in Egypt award in 2024.
