Actress Reham Abdel Ghafour revealed a secret she had kept for 40 years: she was sexually abused as a child, specifically when she was six years old.
During her appearance on the program “With Mona El Shazly,” which featured the cast of the series “The Story of Narges,” Reham explained that the abuse was perpetrated by a relative who was around 80 years old at the time of the incident.
She described her family’s reaction after she revealed the matter, saying they were deeply shocked, especially after she told them the identity of the perpetrator, who had already passed away.
She added that she felt immense relief after disclosing this information, having kept it bottled up inside for so many years. She explained that whenever she recalled the incident, she was overcome with the same fear and distress she experienced at the time.
Reham Abdel Ghafour’s reaction in revealing this difficult personal situation served as an incentive for the rest of the series’ stars to talk about their own experiences, whether difficult or embarrassing, as a number of them began to share human situations they had gone through, which gave the meeting a humane, moving, and close character to the audience.
